Denver Guitar Lessons

Emiliano Tanguma was born in Baytown TX. May 14,1970. Being the third child of Ruby D. DeHoyes and nationally known artist Leo Tanguma.

Emiliano was immersed into the world of visual and performing arts. At the age of 10 Emiliano became interested in the guitar but more less put it aside for the opportunity to play tenor and alto saxophone. After three years of playing saxophone for his Middle school Horace Mann, and with the introduction of Rock and Roll by his older brother Carlos, Emiliano decided that the Guitar was the instrument for him.

It’s my hope to keep the fun of Rock & Roll alive by passing it on to those who will in turn do the same” Denver Guitar Lessons - Emiliano

The seventies and eighties was an explosive and innovative era for guitar playing. Emilano quickly became influenced by guitarists such as Angus Young of AC/DC, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, and Randy Rhoads. Another early Influence was that of the Southern Rock genre. Bands such as Lynyrd Skyrnrd, Molly Hatchet and ZZ Top all had a profound influence in shaping Emiliano’s approach to playing guitar. Through the eighties to the mid nineties guitar playing gave birth to the Guitar Gods era. Guitarists again such as Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Randy Rhoads, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Alex Skolnick, Warren D’Martini, Vivian Campbell, George Lynch, Nunno Bettencourt and many more shaped Emiliano’s Style of playing. But it was DimeBag Darrell From Pantera who had captured various styles in his own playing who was the most inspirational to Emiliano.

Throughout Emiliano’s career, education and personal growth as a musician has been essential. Studying under various instructors Emiliano was able to build a strong and disciplined foundation that enhanced his guitar playing. Formal education began at   Metro-Politian-State College of Denver’s Music Program. Emiliano studied music theory, classical, jazz, And Rock Guitar. Major in-depth studies of Rock guitarists came by master guitar player Lee Mason(Top his Class G.I.T. Hollywood Ca. 1985). During the mid nineties which gave way to the Internet explosion Emiliano ventured into a solo learning journey(1997-Present). Learning the greats note for note were and still are the motto by which Emiliano Learns and teaches.

At the age 15 Emiliano began to play live venues. Teen parties would usually play host to these first occurrences. As time past by parties gave way to two winnings at Emiliano’s high School Talent Show. During The mid Eighties Nite Clubs weren’t to strict about having under age performers. Emiliano and his band found themselves being showcased at Heavy Metal clubs such as After the Gold rush, Bengals, Whiskey Bills, Aliby’s, Hollywood Legends and The Under-Ground. As Metal and Shred were peaking in the U.S. Emiliano performed throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and other various parts of the South West. Emiliano was continuously complimented on having excellent rhythms as well as smoking leads. Currently Emiliano performs on a regular basis playing blues, Hard Rock, Metal, Thrash/Shred both original and cover Music. It is these experiences of live performing that were instrumental in forging the technique and style that attract many of Emiliano’s Students.

At Present, Emiliano is the Instructional Director at Jamspace USA Denver. His approach to teaching guitar emphasizes overall technique and fretboard knowledge. He is more than happy to teach and share with those who are willing to do the work and learn.
